- Originally part of the Town of Boynton Beach until property tax disputes required twelve residents to split away to create the Town of Boynton Beach.It was later changed to its current name Ocean Ridge in 1937 because it was confusing to people.
- Sea turtles come to lay their eggs. Nesting season is from April 1 to October 31 and typically occurs in Ocean Ridge Hammock Park. Manatee season, on the other hand, runs from November through March.
- Ocean Ridge Natural Area is a protected area where visitors can observe a maritime hammock ecosystem and a mangrove swamp. There one can see native Floridian plant life like various mangrove trees, gumbo limbo, and dune sunflowers. Animal species like red-bellied woodpeckers, night herons and manatees have also been found in the area.
- School-age residents are assigned to schools in the nearby Town of Boynton Beach where there are primary, middle, and high schools.
