The town has access to several thoroughfares including Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 70.
  • Founded in 1893, the town was named after the Black Mountain range. Due to its strategic location, the settlement became a hub of activity, connecting various points to the mountain railroad and becoming a pathway for trade and immigrants.
  • The Sourwood Festival, an annual Black Mountain, NC event, is a weekend street festival that caters to the entire family. The festival, which takes place every August, features local arts and crafts, food, and plenty of entertainment.
  • Several notable names have called Black Mountain home. Roberta Flack, Brad Johnson, Roy Williams, and Brad Daugherty are just some of Black Mountain’s most famous residents.
